Welcome to the web site of Purple Cats, a Sheffield-based community choir which welcomes every adult who wants to sing for pleasure. Songs are taught in the natural voice manner. There is no need to be able to read music and there are no auditions.
We regret that, since we have no child protection policy in place, the choir is not open to anyone under 18.
We sing in the Nave at St Mary's community centre, Bramall Lane, Sheffield S2 4QZ. This is a wonderful place to sing with superb acoustics. Purple Cats usually meet every Tuesday evening during term-time, including half-term (7:30 - 9:45 pm). You don't need to pay for membership, or for more than one week at a time. At present the fee is £5 (£3 unwaged) per session. This pays for our teachers, room hire, and refreshments (hot drinks and biscuits). The choir is run by volunteer members who form a "Core Group". This keeps expenses, and hence fees, to a minimum.
See the "Our singing" page for videos of our recent flashmob performances.
